This blanket can be machine washed on the wool or delicates cycle (the blanket has been pre-washed to make sure the colours are fast). I used cold water and lowered the spin cycle, then laid the blanket flat out on some towels on the floor so it would keep its shape.

This was an enormous amount of fun to create. I selected beautifully vivid colours for the main patterns of the granny squares, as I wanted a comfy blanket that was cheery and bright. This is my first crochet granny square blanket. I spent my evenings sitting creating the squares once I had finished my regular days work (and sometimes just sat for hours during the day). I do find it incredibly relaxing to sit and craft this way, and what a magical piece it is that comes together at the end of the process. I loved the blanket so much I immediately created a big cushion to go with it. To add an extra layer of of interest, I have made the back of the cushion different to the granny square front. Making this blanket has been quite defining. A crochet project comes together very quickly comparatively to knitting. This appeals to my very impatient nature in that I can see instant results almost. In saying that, this blanket and cushion have taken weeks of days and nights to make. But it was all worth it and I will continue on creating more beautiful colourways.
