Rustic A5 (22 x 16cms), genuine leather hand-bound journal/notebook. Inspiration Diary, Dream Recording, Art or Travel Journal.
A5 journal with the full fold-over front flap. I wanted to create a really special journal with different features. The pages inside this have been tea stained for that old world look and I have included one sheet of my own handmade at the start of each of the eight signatures. That coupled with the celtic charm on the front tie off and the leather bow I have also created, makes this a very unique journal. I have made one in each of the three popular sizes: mini, A6 & A5
Made with a stunning distressed look, genuine leather hide. Bound with waxed linen thread and is teamed with 130gsm artists cartridge paper signatures (signatures are the individual paper books which have been sewn inside, 8 in total, each consisting of 8 folded pages). 128 leaves which will give you 256 write-able pages. The paper I have chosen for my journals is a premium grade fine tooth artist’s drawing cartridge paper with good erasability. Perfect for finished drawing in pen, pencil, marker, charcoal & pastel.
All of my leather hides are sourced from an Australian Tannery located in Victoria. Their philosophy is to source the best Australian hides and finishes to create the perfect product. I am extremely happy with the quality of all the leathers I have sourced from them. Where possible I like to work with the natural edging of the hide to give the journal added character. Each hide is different with many lovely quirks - holes, differing colour gradients and natural blemishes. Attached wrap around lacing closes the journal. This is a sturdy 1.8-2mm leather and is quite firm. Of course being natural leather, will be strong and durable. I have trialed many different leathers, but have settled on this distressed look range as it does look like a natural aged finish. Another feature of this finish is that it is easily buffed if you accidently mark it. In the actual making of them I often scratch the leather whilst sewing them. If you rub your finger or a cloth across the mark it disappears. You can do this quite vigorously, it doesn’t hurt the leather at all.
A feature of this journal is the inclusion of 2 my own original art prints in the first signature flanked by sheets of specialty papers, including one sheet of handmade paper I have made myself using home recyclables and petals from my garden.
This very unique and special journal can be used for the recording of all your art, precious words or dreams. The journal is packaged in a brown Kraft gift box made from recycled materials.
