Behind the Sun - Original Artworks

Two paintings sold as a set. Both pieces 76cm wide x 102cm high

These are what I call the Bird People, The Watchers. They exist behind the sun, and live in the swirling pools of creation. This colour palette also indicative of their origins. New life forms move through the ethers and out into the worlds below them.

The paintings are full canvas fluid pours. I love the flexiblity of the high flow paints, they are quite mystical and a real challenge. I am totally enchanted by the look of fluid pours. They have a dream like quality, reminiscent of the vastness of space or the depth of the oceans. Or in this case, the swirling ethers of creation itself. I pour my backgrounds and then leave them, sometimes for many months, until an idea emerges. The painting speaks, “this is who I am”. With my new found direction, I begin to lay down the hand detailing which will become the finished artwork. My trees are very popular, and I love painting the trees. But every now and then something quite unique, such as this pair, brings itself forward and into the light.

This is quite a textured piece with multiple layers underneath being the foundation for these artworks. I have also used metallic sheen paints for the gold detailing and across the watchers wings and faces. The subtleness of the sheen is picked up when caught in the right light, giving yet another dimension to these works. Finished with and isolation coat and four layers of varnish over the paintings for protection. They can be wiped over with a soft damp cloth to keep the artworks dust free.

Artworks are unframed, framing is not an essential component with these beautiful deep canvases. Ready to hang.

As I live in a rural location, delivery is possibly 7-10 days as I have to co-ordinate with a city freight company who aren’t always traveling in our area.
